Do I need online booking on my website?
Not on day one. What you need first is a fast, frictionless way for someone to reach you — a quote form and click-to-call, which every Baer site includes by default. Online booking is a real upgrade, but it solves a different problem, and it's worth adding once you know it fits how you actually work.
Online booking makes the most sense when:
- Your jobs are schedulable in advance — maintenance visits, inspections, consultations — rather than mostly same-day emergencies
- You (or your team) already use a calendar or scheduling tool day-to-day, so a booking widget just plugs into a system you already run
- You want to cut down on phone tag — a homeowner picks a slot, it's confirmed, nobody has to play voicemail ping-pong
It matters less, or can even hurt conversions, when:
- Most of your business is urgent, same-day work — a burst pipe doesn't want to pick a slot next Tuesday, it wants a phone number
- Every job needs a quick phone assessment before you can commit to a time anyway — the booking step just adds friction before that conversation
- You don't have the staffing to actually honor a self-serve calendar reliably — a booking system that leads to missed or double-booked appointments does more damage to trust than not having one
A good middle ground a lot of trades businesses land on: click-to-call and a fast quote form as the primary path (what most homeowners actually want in the moment), with a booking option offered specifically for non-urgent service types like inspections or estimates. You don't have to choose one system for every kind of job you do.
